NAGG Kitty @ Gateway National Golf Links
The # 1 Public Golf Course in St. Louis and the Only One With Bentgrass Fairways! Enjoy golf as it was meant to be played at this stunning, links-style course in the perfect location for golfers who work in, or travel to the downtown St. Louis and Metro-East areas. Gateway National offers St. Louis golfers the rare opportunity to return to the rich traditions of the game. Rolling links, separated by gentle mounds, meander through lush, green pasturelands. Tall grasses, lakes, wood-tie bunkers, and occasional giant cottonwoods complete the landscape. In view of the magnificent Gateway Arch, you will cross occasional stone bridges, glide on raised boardwalks through quiet wetlands, and enjoy play on the only public St. Louis golf course with bentgrass fairways within hundreds of miles. The course sprawls across gently rolling pasturelands crossed with ribbons of tall native grasses and sprinkled with mature cottonwood trees. There are also several sparkling lakes that dot the course, providing challenges on several holes. Although it’s nowhere near the ocean, the golf course has a classic links layout with wood-tie bunkers and subtle but tricky mounding that is in the tradition of great British Isles courses such as Carnoustie and the Old Course at St. Andrews. The Gateway National layout even incorporates Scottish-style burns. The fairways are generous but they are lined with rough that will readily swallow errant shots. It is a long golf course at 7,178 yards and it even boasts one of Illinois’ longest par 4s, the 482-yard fifth hole Our convenient location makes us a natural choice for corporate outings and charity events. After your round, you’ll want to linger in our clubhouse and enjoy our open-faced kitchen that serves an a la carte lunch with spectacular views across the links.
